Darksiders II – Behind the Mask: Death Rises

THQ have released a new developer diary for Vigil Games’ Darksiders II, focusing on Death..

The story in Darksiders II runs alongside that of Darksiders, with War having been convicted and sent to Earth by the Charred Council.  The remaining three Horsemen are informed of this, but believe War to have been set up.  Death sets out to prove War’s innocence.. with a much larger game world filled with quests, loot, and powerful enemies to defeat.

In the developer diary, the Vigil team talk about the differences between War and Death, Death’s fighting abilities and the types of weapons he can use.. with a brief mention of the improved depth to the world players will experience in Darksiders II.

Darksiders II is planned for release in June for the PC, PS3 and 360, with a Wii U version planned for the launch of that system later in 2012.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

I was looking for something else to play when a friend suggested WAR.  As there’s a free trial, nothing to be lost in trying it out.

So, it’s a fantasy MMORPG with two factions, Order and Destruction.  Going with friends, I joined the Destruction faction and rolled a Witch Elf, who was wearing very little.  As it turns out, there isn’t much in the way of clothes for her later on either.. though maybe the phrase “If you’ve got it, flaunt it” applies here.

There was a lot to pick up, and I ended up following friends rather than striking out on my own, which might have been better for learning the game, but would definitely have been less entertaining.  We also didn’t play for too long before comparisons were made to World of Warcraft.. which might be another game to try at some point.

This week, I’ve been fighting off the minions of heaven and hell as War in Darksiders, a post-apocalyptic action game from THQ.

War feels rather overpowered, with his massive sword and the fun auto-kill moves, especially when dealing with the general zombies.  For these, hitting the auto-kill button means grabbing them by the ankles and smashing them into the ground, or picking them up by the head and then squishing it!  Cue running around the Crossroads section of the game and only using this button..  Well, that’s one way of getting rid of the day’s stresses! 🙂

In GameInformer’s interview with Vigil’s General Manager, he said the original idea would have had all four horsemen available to play in a four player co-op.. damn..  That could have been a serious rampage..

I’m enjoying this game lots, though at the moment I’m suffering a little from having too many games, but not enough time..  so I’m not likely to finish it too soon.
