The EA Indie Bundle
EA have decided to get in on the indie bundle scene.. with the EA Indie Bundle, launched on Steam.
This bundle has been causing a bit of a stir amongst some indie developers, with accusations that the huge company is just cashing in on the popularity of “indie” bundles, and more arguments about what the term “indie” means. The games in the bundle are apparently EA Partners games.. the label which publishes third party games from independent developers.
So.. the games..
HotHead Games‘ DeathSpank, and DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, Vanguard Games‘ action adventure Gatling Gears; Klei Entertainment‘s action games Shank and Shank 2; and Trapdoor Inc.‘s stealthy puzzler Warp, available for £14.38 until 9th May.. 70% off against £47.94 if buying all the games at full price: a far cry from the usual indie bundles which start off in single figures 😉
I did notice that Gatling Gears comes with a dirty word.. DRM. This game also has a five machine activation limit. Would this be in place if not for EA?
Indie Royale: The May Hurray Bundle
The latest Indie Royale bundle to be launched is the May Hurray Bundle, with six games and the now usual music bonuses.
The first game in the bundle is Dungeon Defenders, an addictive tower defense RPG game with lots of loot and skills to learn by Trendy Entertainment.
The Indie Gala 4
The latest Indie Gala bundle is now available for purchase, again pay what you want, but with a beat the average price in place for two of the games and the bonuses which will only be revealed during the second week of sale.
Games listed are: A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda, a side-scrolling platformer by Extend Interactive; arcade-style Alien Shooter, by Sigma Team; Disciples II: Gallean’s Return, a compilation edition of strategy game Disciples II and expansions Dark Prophecy and Guardians of the Light, by Strategy First; and Altitude, aerial combat from Nimbly Games; with Boss Baddie WAKE being revealed as the first of the bonus games.
Avoiding The Indie Face Kick
Another indie bundle is due to launch soon: the Indie Face Kick, which has been put together by the guys at Gaming: All The Time. This bundle contains eight games: Booster Trooper, Dead Horde, Sol Survivor, Avencast, Runespell, Still Life 2, PAM and Greed Black Border.
I wouldn’t mind looking at the games.. but this bundle, or more specifically, the organisation of this bundle, feels far too unprofessional.. I’m unimpressed with the organisers’ attitude towards customers’ concerns and criticism.
Update: BacklogJourney has done a little more digging.. the organisers are, or were, more heavily involved with their Russian Steam Key advertiser than they were letting on, with this advertiser providing keys for their competitions, too. (more…)
Be Mine Impressions – Part 2
This is Part 2 of my mini-review/impressions of the games in the Be Mine Indie Game bundle, covering Beep, a physics-based platformer by Big Fat Alien, The Ball, an action-puzzle game by Teotl Studios, and as a bonus for achieving the first goal of $3,000, a point and click adventure game called Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals, by White Birds Productions.
Part 1 can be found here, with thoughts on Wasteland Angel, Sideway New York, and Xotic.
Beep, a physics-based platformer by Big Fat Alien, is the fourth game in the bundle. In the future, robots are sent out to explore the galaxy.. small expendable robots, which are dropped off onto a planet’s surface to explore before being beamed back up to the ship again. (more…)
Indie Gala Fruit Blitz!
Another bonus game has been added to the recent Indie Gala bundle: Fruit Blitz!
Fruit Blitz is a mobile game for the Android, by Rubicon Development; featuring 90 second games with a simple matching mechanic. (more…)
Be Mine At Last
I finally got hold of the Be Mine Indie Game Bundle!
This bundle launched earlier this week, but remained inaccessible to many people after the Groupee servers proved incapable of staying up.
There were originally five games listed in the bundle: Wasteland Angel, Sideway New York, Xotic, Beep and The Ball. However, after achieving the first goal of $3,000, the three DLC packs for Xotic, and point and click adventure game Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals, by White Birds Productions, were added to the bundle. The next goal is set at $100,000, with soundtracks for The Ball and Beep, and new EPs, and a third mystery bundle has been listed, but with no goal value as yet.
I’ve been playing Wasteland Angel this evening, and plan to get a quick summary of all the games up soon..
The Indie Royale: The Valentine’s Bundle
Indie Royale’s The Valentine’s Bundle is now out, with five games, and bonus DLC! As usual the bundle is available on a pay what you want scheme, with a minimum price, although you can pay more to unlock the bonus, show your support, and knock down the price for others!
The games are: action fighting game Zeno Clash, by Ace Team, Hoard, a strategy game featuring dragons, by Big Sandwich Games Inc., adventure puzzle game Lume, by StateofPlay, and world premiere PC versions of retro RPG defense games Soulcaster and Soulcaster II, by MagicalTimeBean!
The bonus DLC in this bundle is for HOARD: Dynamite Roll!, which adds nine new maps and extra units, and Flame-Broiled SANDwich which adds a desert continent and remodelled buildings, units and terrain!
For those paying more than the current minimum, there’s also One Life Left’s music compilation, “Music To Play Games By Too“.
We looked at all the games in a bit more detail.. you can read it over here.
