The price for the launch DLC comes to just over $40 (about £25), with an extra $10 for an Online Pass for anybody buying second hand.  This is all in addition to the micro-transactions planned for people to buy resources for crafting.

The full list via Eurogamer:

  • Bot Capacity Upgrade – $4.99
  • Bot Personality Pack – $4.99
  • First Contact Pack – Free
  • Marauder Pack – $4.99
  • Sharpshooter Pack – $4.99
  • Tundra Recon Pack – $4.99
  • Witness the Truth Pack – $4.99
  • Bot Accelerator – $4.99
  • Epic Weapon & Resource Pack – $2.99
  • Online Pass – $9.99
  • Ultra Weapon & Resource Pack – $1.99
  • Resource Pack – $0.99

Developers often have a bit of ‘free time’ between finishing the game and the launch date, but this is rather a lot of DLC to pump out in just a few weeks.  Amazon lists the game at £40 for the Xbox and 360, and £30 for the PC version!

In particular, the Bot Capacity and Bot Accelerator packs look like cash grabs.. if the Bot’s Capacity has been designed properly then there will be no need to upgrade it.  It remains to be seen whether the Bot in the premium game feels crippled in order to force people to buy this pack.

Fans may wonder about the Bot Personality pack too.. is this just a fun addition, or does the vanilla Bot really have no personality?  Are these features which have been deliberately held back from the game for the sake of an extra fee?
