E3 2012: Second Day’s Offerings

Picking through the news for what’s happened overnight at E3.. there’s been a lot more love for the Wii U, with plenty more games announced for the system.. more mention of the PS Vita, which apparently won’t be getting a price cut, and release dates for a trio of Mario titles for the 3DS.. all later this year.

Nintendo announced Scribblenauts Unlimited, now with much larger levels and multiplayer challenges, with players able to create and share new objects using the GamePad.. knowing how user-generated content can be, I think this could go either way! 😉

They also announced that Mass Effect 3 will be making an appearance, although it hasn’t been revealed whether there will be any new content in this version.  Other games coming for the system include Pikmin 3, Darksiders and Darksiders II, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Trine 2: Director’s Cut, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge and Aliens: Colonial Marines.. the full list of games in development can be found here.

Like the Wii, the Wii U will have some fitness ‘games’: Wii Fit U and the Wii Sports-like NintendoLand, which will be coming to the Wii U this Christmas!  Wii Fit U looks like an upgraded version of Wii Fit Plus, with the Wii U GamePad adding a few extras, while Nintendoland is a theme park full of rides and mini-games: Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest, Animal Crossing: Sweet Days, Luigi’s Ghost Mansion, Donkey Kong Crash Course and Takamaru’s Ninja Castle are some of the rides confirmed so far.

The Wii U GamePad will apparently last between three and five hours per charge.. this just doesn’t seem very long at all and is bound to lead to more flat batteries littering the coffee table here! 😉

I was sent this link earlier, with the E3 trailers for loads of PC games.. some of which had escaped my notice until now.. Bethesda’s Dishonored and Sega’s Aliens: Colonial Marines, which has drop-in, drop-out multiplayer, for instance.

Deep Silver also announced Dead Island Riptide, but we’ll have to wait till summer to hear anything more about it!
